Shaikh Muhamad Refat Ali joined in Bangladesh Betar in 1995. Being a cadre officer Mr Refat has started his career as Programme Organizer and at present working as Director, Traffic Broadcast Service, Bangladesh Betar (Radio). The station is popularly known as Traffic FM 88.8 . Mr Refat is also working as Director (Music) for Bangladesh Betar.
Mr Refat is a member of Bangladesh Civil Service (Information) cadre and recruited through 15th batch. During the foundation training in Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre, he Achieved Rector Award as the best officer in 1996.
Mr Refat has completed MBA from IBA, Dhaka University. He achieved his second MBA degree with distinction from Monash University, Australia as AusAID Scholar. Mr Refat has strong track record for quality leadership and management. He has worked as Specialist in NHK World Radio Japan for consecutive four years in Japan. As part of his professional dedication he has achieved number of awards from national and international organizations. Some notable are:
- Commonwealth Broadcasting Association Award 2007 in Science & Technology program category for the radio program ‘Hing Ting Chot’ (The Magic of Science).
- UNFPA Media Award 2004-2005 for contribution in broadcasting HIV-AIDS related radio program ‘HIV-AIDS Jantay Chai’.
- Elizabeth R. Award 2000 of Commonwealth Broadcasting Association for an exception to public service broadcasting. The award was given for the community-based radio program ‘Jatir Bhobissot Nirapod Matrittay’ (The Future of the Nation is on Safe Motherhood).
